A new method was invented for turning carbon dioxide into a liquid fuel that can efficiently store energy in fuel cells. 

Key data’s:

  • A new kind of technology based on formic acid has attracted attention as the next generation of fuel cells.
  • Carbon dioxide (CO2) is such a driver of climate change, removing it from our atmosphere is a top priority for the environmental community. 
  • An electrolysis reactor built at Rice University recycles carbon dioxide to produce pure liquid fuel solutions using electricity.
  • The scientists behind the invention hope it will become an efficient and profitable way to reuse the greenhouse gas and keep it out of the atmosphere.

  • The day is being celebrated on September 14 annually.
  • The September 14 was selected, as India adopted Hindi as the official language of the country since 1949 with the other being English and mentioned in Article 343 in our Indian constitution.
  • Objective: The day is a celebration of the Hindi language and its cultural heritage and values among the people of the country and abroad.
  • Hindi is the fourth language of the world.
  • According to the 2011 census, Hindi is spoken by more than 40 percent of India’s population.
  • Hindi Diwas is celebrated across the country by schools through poems, stories and cultural as well as literary programmes held to educate children.

Union Minister for Tribal Affairs launched the Biggest Tribal movement to promote tribal enterprise.

Key data’s:

  • Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Shri Arjun Munda launched the Biggest Tribal movement to promote tribal enterprise through Bamboonomics in the country which will be a beacon for the rest of the world.
  • It is a movement to combat desertification and climate change which will involve the tribal community of India since they have the expertise in this field.
  • The movement will ensure that tribals can earn a livelihood without causing environmental harm.
  • It was launched at the COP 14 of the “United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD)”.
  • The Government also plans to set up 100 ‘Van Dhan’ centres involving tribals to make products from bamboo and build a market for bamboo charcoal. These centres will come up in northeastern states like Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
