Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani launched the website, for the Ekta Yatra to be held across Gujarat to mark the unveiling of the world’s tallest, the Statue of Unity, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to commemorate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary, October 31, 2018. The website provides details about theEkta Yatra, which will entail an “Ekta Rath” going through 10,000 villages in the state in two phases, in October and November.


The website informs people about the contribution of Sardar Patel in uniting India at the time of Independence, instilling patriotism, rising above the divisive forces fragmenting the country into castes and religions. An essay competition, elocution contest and a quiz on the life and times of Sardar Patel will also be held while the Ekta Rath tours the state, screening videos at each halt.Those present at the launch included additional chief secretary for home A M Tiwari and chief principal secretary K Kailashnathan.
