PAPERLESS LICENSING FOR PETROLEUM ROAD TANKERS
What’s in news?
A new initiative of paperless licensing process for road tankers for transportation of petroleum was launched.
A paperless licensing process through the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO) for road tankers for transportation.
Launched by: The new licensing policy was launched by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Petroleum Rules, 2002.
Advantage:The following are the various advantage of this initiative;

Simplifying mechanism for licensing process
Promote the ease of living and business
It added that the process will include filing the applications online, online payment of fees.
Applicants, at each stage of processing of the application, will be intimated through SMS and e-mail, whether discrepancy or grant of licence or approval.

Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT):
Erstwhile name: Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion. It was renamed to DPIIT after internal trade was added to its mandate.
Ministry:The department was under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
It is responsible for formulation and implementation of promotional and developmental measures for growth of the industrial sector, keeping in view the national priorities and socio-economic objectives.
